Lube brushes with natural hair are often made from the tail of a kolinsky. Kolinskies are Siberian weasels with adorably bushy tails. These animals do not handle captivity well, and we do not support making these animals suffer, just so we can make our switches smoother.
Regarding application properties, synthetic hair will have more lube stay on top of the brush, whereas natural hair will absorb more lube. This means you might apply your lube slightly differently, but you will absolutely not "lube worse" because of these hair differences.
Most importantly, the hairs on our brushes don't easily pull out, due to the tight, high-quality brass ferrule used. Our brass ferrules are made of stronger material compared to the common aluminum ones.
It's easy to overlube your switches. With a size 00 (aka 2/0) brush, you'll have significantly greater application control. Typically we see size 0 brushes in our community, but in our opinion this is slightly too large for lubing switches.
